Norwich City of Ale is also grateful to the following for their support:
Established in November 2012 the Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) is run for local businesses by local businesses. It is a simple and tried and tested way of increasing economic prosperity for companies of all sizes through collaboration. The BID covers a defined area of Norwich where businesses plan how to improve their trading environment, identifying additional projects and services that develop the city centre and trade. Investment in the BID area aims to enhance and promote the local environment for businesses, employees and customers.
We are proud to be sponsoring Norwich City of Ale which helps promote the celebration of city pubs, local breweries and real ale throughout Norwich city centre which slots very well into the major festivals in the City. This festival helps the leisure sector increase customer and visitor numbers whilst growing the overall vibrancy of the city as a destination and keeping Norwich as the nationally recognised city of ale.
Alan Boswell Group
Alan Boswell Group is a leading independent insurance broker and one of the Eastern region’s largest financial planners. With more than 20 years’ experience arranging insurance for the pub and brewery industry, the relationship with the City of Ale Festival is a natural fit for ABG and an opportunity to build closer ties with the licensed trade in Norwich.
All of the Group’s insurance operations have achieved Chartered Insurance Broker status, a title held by fewer than 200 broking firms across the UK. The company employs more than 300 staff and is highly regarded in the region, consistently achieving exceptionally high customer service satisfaction levels.

Farnell Clarke is an award-winning accountancy practice, based in Norwich but serving clients nationwide. Our refreshing approach makes us far from your typical accountants. As you’d expect, we employ a highly skilled, qualified team of professional chartered accountants. But that’s where the similarities with a traditional firm ends.
Visit our Norwich office and you’ll soon spot the difference. Newly renovated to mark ten years of growth, it’s bright and relaxed, with not a grey suit in sight. Clients are always welcome to visit for a coffee, or better still, a pint, at our in-house pub, The Tax & Pounds.
At Farnell Clarke, we like to make life simple for our clients. Always ahead of the accountancy curve, we introduce our clients to the latest technology, apps and cloud based solutions, to make keeping on top of finance as straightforward as possible. So that’s less time staring at spreadsheets, and more time serving, brewing or supping the county’s finest beers. Happy days!
The pub, brewing and hospitality sector is just one of Farnell Clarke’s specialist areas. To find out more about our range of accountancy and business advice services, please call 01603 766078.
St Peter’s Brewery
Based in Suffolk, St Peter’s Brewery was one of the UK’s first craft brewers and each brew is still hand-crafted and produced under the watchful eye of its master brewer. Using water from its own deep bore-hole, St Peter’s brews a range of classic English cask-conditioned ales and superb bottled beers using locally malted barley and Kentish hops. Look out for its traditional ales, IPAs, bitters, stouts and milds, as well as its range of lifestyle beers including organic and gluten free and St Peter’s Without, the UK’s first alcohol-free craft beer.
Adnams, the brewer, distiller and retailer, is an independent values-based family business committed to a sustainable future. It has been brewing from its base at Southwold on the Suffolk coast for over 140 years and produces a range of cask, keg and bottled beers. Adnams was the first brewer in England to build a distillery on the same site in 2010, where it now produces award winning handcrafted spirits. Adnams beers and spirits can be found in pubs and supermarkets nationwide. The company also has an estate of pubs, hotels and a chain of stores.
At Woodforde’s we attribute our beers moreish taste to our team of grafters and craftsman who use only the very best ingredients; from the best Norfolk barley and water from our very own bore hole, through to an array of hops which give our beers their incredible flavour and aroma. This is why Woodforde’s have been making the ordinary taste extraordinary for over 30 years.
Woodforde’s are lucky enough to have won numerous awards including two Supreme Champion Beers of Britain for Wherry and Nog. Wherry still remains a firm favourite of the range, but with seasonal editions such as Simcoe Pale and Flagondry fast becoming favourites then there really is a beery world of opportunity out there. The latest edition to the Woodforde’s range is a Keg beer called Norada, an American-style IPA with notes of sweet mango and papaya, Mosaic, Cascade and Nelson Sauvin hops with a medium-bodied finish.
