The building is Grade II listed and dates to the 16th century. It was known as the White Lion under its first licensee, John Starr, in 1760. In 1985 its name changed to the Wig & Pen, reflecting its proximity to the Magistrates’ Courts. The two coats of arms on the front of the building are of the Blomefield family, well-known Norwich historians. Craig McLaren has owned the pub since 1993.
