The Plasterers opened for trade in 1822, one of the many pubs in Norwich named after local guilds of tradesmen. Over the years it has been owned by many of the large local breweries including Morgans, Bullards and Adnams. For a period as a free house in the 1970s it was one of the very few pubs in Norwich serving real ale, and became renowned for being an ‘ale Nirvana’. In 2011 it was completely refurbished into a more modern twist on a traditional pub. Although it retains its cosy Victorian charm it now serves pizzas and artisan drinks of all kinds – not least the 24 draught taps that take it a step closer to its former heavenly state.
